Drake Smew

Record shot of drake Smew.

Drake Smews
Two beautiful drake Smew ( Mergus albellus )  have been present at Roadford resevoir in Devon for a couple of weeks , and now living only  five minutes away I have been to see them on a few afternoons, and although showing well through binoculars and scope, they have always been too far away to get a decent shot, hence the two record shots here. I,m just waiting for the unlikely event of them swimming past the hide. I've seen a few female ( brownheads ) Smews ,but these are my first males , and what cracking birds they are.
