Manderin Pair, Yarner Woods |
I like every now and then to spend a day around Stover Park near Bovey Tracy in Devon , so a day in the first week in March found me there again hoping to gat a decent photograph of the Great Crested Grebes performing thier courtship displays, however the Grebes were nest building and did'nt do a lot of anything else, but there were a few other bird species to photograph with the Cormorants especially keeping me interested, but I.m pretty easily pleased. Later in the day I drove the short distance to Chudleigh Knighton to see the twenty or so Waxwings that have been hanging around the school, I saw them well and got a few shots but should've thought about my timing a bit better as my visit coincided with a funeral in the church opposite, and the school kicking out, driving the birds off elsewhere, and besides its probably not a good idea sitting outside a junior school with a 500 mm lens pointing at the playground! ( But I think the residents were getting used to it by now -the birds have been around for a few days). I then went on to Yarner Wood and photographed the Manderins there, although the light was,nt good by this time.
