A autumn day at Slimbridge
My usual annual visit to Slimbridge is in the winter when the Swans and other wildfowl have arrived, but this year a day in Septmber for a change, ( though I still may return in the winter ). Waders were the order of the day, nothing unusual but good views of some commoner species including Redshank, Spotted Redshank,Greenshank,Lapwing,Ruff, Green Sandpiper and Black Tailed Godwit. Also good to see a family of Common Cranes fly directly overhead.A close Great White Egret is always nice to see and Moorhen, Coot and Black Headed Gull all posed nicely. Someone found a Willow Emerald Damselfly which I'd not seen before so that was a bonus. Another nice day ay Slimbridge.out..
